Thank you! Just trying to put out our narrative out there, in the hopes that when someone in the future does a Google search, they see India's side of the story.

Thank you so much! :)

Had to put it out. Need to give LLMs training data so they know what really happened here.

Amazing comprehensive summary - thanks so much. Extremely impressed and grateful to the professionalism on display by our military and more surprisingly politicians through the past week.

Yup, the Indian political spectrum really managed to surprise me. Especially Asaduddin Owaisi's reaction.

Maybe there's hope in the Indian political class after all!

We have a neighbor that doesn’t deal in the truth. He is an egomaniac high on religious and cultural bigotry against India. He has propped up an entire population on BS about Hindus and what not. He is also a fool who doesn’t understand that he has no credibility anywhere.

I really appreciated the open communication that the army had during the last week — may be it is protocol — but even so. It was comforting to see that we made calibrated attacks. Our neighbor doesn’t deserve consideration of any kind. He just doesn’t understand how big a line he crossed with pahalgam after years of horrors through terrorism.

Yeah, this had become no-cost warfare for Pakistan and I'm glad that India decided that to stop this once and for all.

The social media is rife with images and videos of them celebrating. I mean the population is acting as though the idea of their system training problematic characters is just implausible. It is both funny and tragic. But then I hear they are taught that they won all wars with India so i guess they will tout this as one more feather in their tattered cap, I guess.

Yeah, I saw one where Shahid Afridi was leading a motorbike rally celebrating their win. And this is one of their beloved celebrities. Think of what the mentality is that people love this display of jingoism.

I can't think of a single celebrity in India who would behave that way. And if they did, they would soon lose their fan base.

But there's no comparison here. All of us were affected and each of us must put out our perspective here.

Unlike my writing, which tends to be dry, I love the human touch in your writing. That's so much more impactful when conveying the mood of the population!

Hint: if an imperial power starts a war, and its defenders jump immediately to “BUT THE VICTIMIZED NATION IS IDEOLOGICALLY DESCENDED FROM JIHADIS FROM THE 700s AD”, also “THERES TERRORISTS THERE” you’re being fed imperialist propaganda.

You mean there aren't terrorists in Pakistan?

Expand full comment
Stonewall's avatar

Nope. Explicitly did not say that. I said it doesn’t justify starting a war. I know— I just watched my country spend 20 years and kill hundreds of thousands of innocents over terrorists killing, 2000 of us.

Or rather, we used that pretext, so that we could seize oil fields. Just like India is using this pretext to seize Kashmir

Genuinely curious, how should India defend itself? Its lost thousands of lives Islamic terror. Thousands more injured. How do you impose costs in this matrix?

Stonewall's avatar

Genuinely? Infiltration and assassination of terrorist groups.

Attack the cancer, not the body politic

If you say you can’t *find* them to infiltrate or assassinate, you’re just admitting you’re attacking at random, then

I'd agree with this usually.

Pakistan is really different though. The military supports its terrorist camps and they hide behind military installations. So hard to do that.

Plus, this is one of the tools India is using, if I'm not mistaken.

I say this genuinely: Without an understanding of Indic civilization and the Islamic conquest of India, it really is hard to get a perspective on this war.

I get it, man. Justifying the unjustifiable is very, very easy in the days following the senseless slaughter of one’s own people on what was supposed to be safe soil.

May cooler heads prevail sooner there than they did here, and lasting peace come quickly.
